I hear that Uni A had a good performance against an inform Mickey's team, unfortunately ending in defeat. They're a quality side and I'm not sure if the Uni have ever picked up a win against them. Anyone care to post a match report?

Yeah, it feels like it'll be quite a blow to the UK pool boom (as they've been calling it). Some people I know are sceptical about the whole thing and believe it is a semi-fraudulent way of clearing debts off without too many people noticing. (Ditch the loss-making premises and continue with the good ones)... I'm not sure what to think.

Rich told me about this yesterday, it is shocking news... where will women's varsity be held? Also, 3 years ago we played in a Riley's in Oxford as Colours had been booked by someone else, do you know if that Riley's has also been closed? If so, then Oxford are in a little bit of trouble regarding a venue.

It you send something in writing to Chris, then send it to all committee members independently. It can easily get misplaced or lost somehow and Chris would probably just tell us that we should have made sure it was in 14 days in advance and it's our own tough luck that he lost it. I'm not cynical really.

Uni Ladder: Off the mark - 15 years ago

Hey guys, I'm up for playing ladder friendlies against anyone who is interested in giving me a game. I was uni captain a couple of years ago and play for the Uni A team in the CAPL league and would be happy to give advice/coaching around a friendly match, or feel free to challenge me if you wish to impress and beat me in a first to 15! I look forward to seeing the challenges roll in.

I hear that the Uni B team have taken their winning record up to something like 10 wins in a row... this is great form to take into your cup match against the White Lion who are very beatable. How did the match pan out, if anyone has time then send me a full match analysis. I expect to hear about lots of flair from the match, especially with the inclusion of Tim "The Cannon" Hens

I don't believe any Uni players have tried this competition before but any competition will be good experience. It must mean world rules and there will certainly be more than a few *very* good players there, but equally there will be a lot of players who aren't that hot so any Uni players under 21 are unlikely to be outclassed in their first couple of matches, unless they get an awful draw.

Can't bring in your own drinks at the Gandhi, and the drink with the deal is a Pint of Carlsberg (or a soft drink), but the curry there is a lot better and you get a lot more... and given it is just up the road from Weathersthingys and many other fine pubs...

It was a very good game, finished 8-4 and a lot of the frames were very close. It looks like it will be a good season for both Uni A and B teams. Thanks to everyone who played, hopefully I'll see you all regularly throughout the year playing at the CSC.

Thanks guys for making a big effort tonight. Everyone played well and I spoke to the opposing captain and he told us that it was our ability to finish the frames we played that was the most important thing about our performance.
