My local went which now means finding an English table round my way is pretty tough. My snooker club is still open mind so I'll just go there. I'll remain as tactically inept as ever at pool but there's half a chance I'll be a potting demon before long >:D<

My local snooker club, and my friend's snooker club on the other side of london both closed down in last year or so - quite a shame really. Still plenty in London though.

Any news on the AGM?

A1 isn't the best. Only 4 tables last time I went. Could be worse though.

Yeah, it feels like it'll be quite a blow to the UK pool boom (as they've been calling it). Some people I know are sceptical about the whole thing and believe it is a semi-fraudulent way of clearing debts off without too many people noticing. (Ditch the loss-making premises and continue with the good ones)... I'm not sure what to think.

Afaik the other Riley's is staying open. They also have an 'A1 pool club', don't know if that's any good.

They should be able to manage but it'll be a blow.

Rich told me about this yesterday, it is shocking news... where will women's varsity be held?

Also, 3 years ago we played in a Riley's in Oxford as Colours had been booked by someone else, do you know if that Riley's has also been closed? If so, then Oxford are in a little bit of trouble regarding a venue. :S

30 clubs have ceased trading immediately, the other 129 have been swallowed up by a new company.

Interestingly Oxford Colours is amongst those to close. That's OUPC's regular venue, and it's where they usually host Varsity.
