Hi guys,

After many heated disscussions on the CAPL forum, I seem to have got nowhere. It is important that we decide whether we want change and what change we want. The AGM is in a couple of weeks and we have to send a request in writing to the committee if we want a vote to be made on a change in the constitution. Changes I recommend are....

1. Uni-B are guaranteed the to be in the division that they would be in if they had played the summer. This would usually invovle relagating three teams, but this is still fair since three will have been promoted. The division involved would be made fully aware of the situation.

2. A bye is put into the division where Uni-B should be. The committee doesn't really like this since people hate not being able to play pool on a thursday.

3. Make the summer and winter leagues seperate. This would be quite a big change but on the positive side other teams may want this also.

4. Any other suggestions???????

We don't have too much time and will probabaly not get what we ask for but it's always worth a try.

I have said this all specifically for Uni-B since Uni-A managed to put out a team over summer and seem to be able to cope much better.

Have any uni players played in this before?

What is the standard like?

Just to confirm World 8 Ball Rules are World Rules (not Black Ball?)

This might be a good competition for some of the uni players providing the standard is not insane, only have to go to Great Yarmouth for one day. I will be under 21, just, bday on 8th of March.

The draws have been done for the Cambridge area competitions - pretty good turnout for the uni this year. I also still have one more place at the CAPL Open available if anyone wants it - first come first served.

All of the draws with uni players highlighted are attached to this post, or you can read through them on the CAPL site. First thoughts - a winnable singles venue for Chris with Gary Browne the only other Prem player to worry about. Lorry's got it fairly tough, but Paul's definitely got the short straw (all prem players, venue miles away).

First up is the Open next saturday (22nd). Make sure you check your start time, and I'll see you there.
Good luck to everyone.

Hi everyone, hope the summer's going well.

I've been doing some major work on the site recently and I thought it was about time I switched some of it on, starting with this forum. Most of you will probably remember the old forum, and I've copied everything from there across to here. That one went a bit quiet after a while but I hope we can start afresh here and keep it lively. It'd be especially good to see college players or freshers-to-be posting.

For now the board is open to anyone, but I recommend registering. In future we will do mass emails through the site so you'll need to be signed up here to get them (you will be able to opt out ;)). It'll also be necessary for all college captains and players wanting to enter hotshots to be registered by the start of the season.

I received entry forms for the BUSA 9-Ball tournament today. We're obviously not a 9-ball club, but if we could get a team together for BUSA that would be cool.

The tournament runs from the 1st-3rd December (end of term weekend) in Solihull. There are 4 in a team, and there's also an Individual event. The club will be able to pay the entry fees, but travel and accomodation will have to come out of our own pockets.

Let's get some enthusiasm going. Who's keen?

Hi folks. I'm a Queens' fresher, and a self confessed snooker obsessive. I'm finding freshers week is great fun and all, but I'm a bit disappointed by the apparent lack of a snooker scene. Maybe it's more of a northern pastime, I don't know.

Anyway, I was thinking of joining the union society, mostly for the snooker but the debates look interesting to sit in on too (if that's possible). Are the tables there any good / available for a bit of a casual game or practice, or is it more akin to getting a game of pool in a busy pub?

Failing that, is the CSC worth the walk? Or what about WT's? I found myself there on sunday night (which took long enough but I was slightly drunk and fairly lost) and signed up but it seems a tad expensive.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just itching to get my hand on the baize. Thanks for any help.

I wish I could have been there to see it, but it sounds as though everyone played really well, and it could even have been a 9-0 :)

I'm sure this is just the first of many, you've all worked really hard for this and I think everyone's improved vastly since the start of the year. Bring on varsity! :D

What you've all been waiting for....

Hey guys! Hope you all had superb fun with the festivities & are raring to go with this wonderful new term. Start of a new year, which means time to dust off the pool cues & get back into action (for those of you not dedicated enough to be practicing every day that is). Happily, it also means us all getting together for a start-of-year shindig! You know we've all missed each other dearly these long weeks...

Due to numerous complaints about curry in the past (I can't think why, but hey) I thought this time we could head to Sthingys - that way you can get curry if you want but there's plenty of top notch alternative pub grub for anyone otherwise inclined. Plus the cheap booze is always a good thing in my books.

I therefore need to know 2 things from you:
1. Which dates you can do out of Weds 17th, Sunday 21st, Tuesday 23rd, or Weds 24th.
2. If you think Sthingys is just a bad idea & would rather do curry/go somewhere else entirely.

Overwhelm me with keenness & respond asap. There will be a suitably exciting theme, to be revealed when further details are decided.

Will be seeing you all very soon! Love & huggles,

Hey guys!
After a little prodding from Kate, I got a-looking-into an end-of term social.

However I've come to the conclusion that end of Mich term = lots of Christmas parties = generally low availability. Although this COULD be worked around, at end of term everyone's knackered, and I thought a much better idea would be for us to get together at the start of next term - we can kick off the new year as we mean to go on, and all have much more fun with it too as we'll be fresh-faced and sparkly after all that lovely vac rest and home cooking. Plus 6 weeks being good (perhaps) at home will make everyone UBER keen to get social (read as 'drunk') again asap, all good things.

If anyone thinks this is off key & I get enough complaints that people want a social before we're off, I'll try and sort something out, so feel free to post/PM/email me opinions.

But otherwise keep an eye on your inboxes in the new year - hopefully a few more blokes will get the message this time round!

Love & hugs to all xV

You've probably had an email about this, but in case you're not on our email lists, here goes:

The time has come for our start-of-year dinner - a chance for everyone to get to know each other a bit better (& get drunk) in a non-pool setting. This will make it much more fun & relaxed to play with each other in teams for the rest of the year, as well as knowing a friendly face when we face each other in college leagues!

So the plan is to go for a curry one night. If you want to come along, and you know you do, please PM/email me to let me know which nights you are available between the 13th & the 18th, except the 17th cos it won't be then cos I already know lots of us are busy :) I'll see when most people can make it & then set a firm date & pick a venue (anyone have any specific preferences?).

Hope to get lots of extremely enthuiastic replies soon - especially from our freshers & other new recruits! 'Til then, my darlings, keep a-practicing!
